Automatic Fare Collection System
The Yellow Line employs an automated fare collection system to provide efficient and swift service to passengers. Tickets are currently divided by operation as follows

Rabbit Cards
  • General Rabbit Card
  • Student Rabbit Card
  • Senior Rabbit Card

Relevant Equipment

1. Card Personalization Device (CPD)

This device prints and write the personal information on personnel cards and can be used to print custom patterns onto cards.

2. Card Initialization Device (CID)

The CID formats the cards of their factory data and installs them with data structure for the Yellow Line so that they may be used for entry and exit of the Yellow Line.

3. Ticket Vending Machines

Ticket Vending Machine (TVM)

Issues Single Journey tickets only, accepting payment using coins, banknotes or via QR code. These machines feature touch screens for the selection of destination stations. Passengers may choose to purchase up to 10 tickets in a single transaction and may change destination station before completing payment. The machines can accept 1, 2, 5 and 10 Baht coins or 20, 50, 100 and 500 Baht banknotes. Passengers may also use the machines to top-up prepaid cards.

4. Ticket Analysis/Issuance Device (Point of Sales/POS)

POS ticket analysis/issuance devices issue Single Journey and 1 Day Smart Passes (Thin card), top-up value or journeys on Rabbit Cards, return journey value and analyze the status of tickets. These devices are installed in the ticket office of each station.

5. Automatic Gate (AG)

Evaluating and improving entry and exit data for the ticket system, Automatic Gates control entry and exit to and from the fare paid area.
Equipped with opening-closing gates, these devices are installed along paths within stations and are able to scan Single Journey tickets and Rabbit Cards. Automatic gates are divided into 2 types:

  • Standard Automatic Gate
  • Wide Automatic Gate designed with extra wide entry (90 cm.) to accommodate passengers with disabilities or with travel baggage

6. Station Computer System(SCS)

This device relays data between all equipment in the station, namely; automatic gates and POS devices, connecting them via station networks and transferring data to the Central Computer for the compilation of reports. The SCS also controls and monitors the status of all station fare collection equipment.

7. Central Computer (CC)

The CC collects data from all station equipment relating to tickets and fare collection for the compilation of reports. It also control the configuration of AFC system e.g. the Yellow Line Fare, setting then broadcast to station equipment.
