Security Systems
The MRT Yellow Line acknowledges the importance of security and maintains a
policy of highest security for life and property within its areas of responsibility.
Preparations and security risk assessments are carried out regularly so that response measures for irregularities or emergencies may be determined. Security management is carried out in
accordance with the company’s Quality, Safety, Security, and Environment Policy.
Police and EOD K-9s
From the K-9 and Mounted Police Division 5 of the Patrol and Special Operations Department, explosive
ordinance device (EOD) K-9s search out explosive devices in the train system. Officers from Tourist Police Division 1 of the Tourist Police Bureau carry out the detainment of
any foreign suspects or criminals that threaten MRT Yellow Line property.
Metal Detector/ Guard Scan
For detection of objects with metallic components, these devices are installed on ticketing floors, in payment areas, near automatic gates on both ends of stations, and are used for random checks of
passenger baggage and belongings to prevent criminal activity or sabotage of the MRT Yellow Line.
Patrol Management System
The MRT Yellow Line employs electronic devices, including Guard Tour Readers and RFID Checkpoints to enhance the efficacy of its security personnel. Security guards carry out patrols of designated areas
at scheduled times and file reports, which are inspected daily using Guard Tour Readers.
Closed Circuit Television System (CCTV System)
The MRT Yellow Line is fitted with closed circuit surveillance cameras that encompass spaces in all stations, its administrative and train operation building and parking and maintenance garages. Plans to install further cameras have been made to ensure maximum coverage. The line’s CCTV Security Center is located at Siam Station and is manned by security personnel throughout all operations hours. If suspicious items or individuals are detected, coordination with relevant
units is carried out immediately and surveillance footage may be reviewed if needed.
Automatic Gate (AG)
Automatic Gates are comprised of the following:
- 2 Pre-Gate Sensors
- 2 Post-Gate Sensor
- Ticket Scanner
- Barrier
- Ticket Slot
Pre-Gate and Post-Gate Sensor Operation
- Automatic gates are equipped with a total four sensors that instruct the gate to close once an object is detected passing by sensors 2 and 3.
- Gates may close before a passenger has passed through due to the passenger’s personal items being detected by Sensor 3 and the sensor detecting a person having passed through the automatic gate.
